My name is Sophie Hyman and I am a second year, studying math and secondary education. I went to Greenwich High School in Connecticut, but now I make the eight-hour drive to UVA. Math has always been my favorite subject, so I knew it was going to be my major, but I decided to become a teacher last year. I coach synchronized swimming in the summer, I have volunteered at a daycare, and I tutored last summer. All of these experiences have been rewarding and I love working with kids. I am actually going to intern with a middle school math teacher this summer to see exactly what it is like.
